All means are good to promote local production
FJ
Japanese politicians will stop at nothing to promote local products.
More accustomed to the dark costumes and strict suits of their political character, Japanese can discover in some weeks a new mode which does not pass unnoticed.
This is Mieko Yoshimura, the governor of Yamagata prefecture, which seems to have started this mode. She has conducted a meeting covered with a giant cherry shaped hat, along with a green stem. Her region, Yamagata, produces about 70% of red cherries from Japan. She explained to media that the hat was a way to attract attention and reinforce the message of producers in the region.
It was followed by Mr. Shigemi Takahashi, Mayor of Mogami, who wore a hat shaped green asparagus, followed by Mr Masaki Enomoto, Mayor of Tsuruoka, who preferred an enormous soy shaped hat.
