Chile will export 14 new frozen fruit species to China

According to the Odepa-Ciren cadastre, to date, Chile has 22,906 hectares dedicated to the cultivation of berries: blueberries (18,216 hectares), raspberries (2,646 hectares) and blackberries (1,178 hectares).(directoriafruta.cl)
This December, Chile and China signed a protocol authorizing 14 frozen fruit species to enter markets of China, according to the Minister of Agriculture, María Emilia Undurraga.
This agreement will initiate bilateral trade with China, and will generate opportunities for small and medium producers, since the sanitary opening is established for 14 new frozen fruits: raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, cherry, boysenberry, avocado, grape, kiwi, apple, custard apple, blueberry, peach, pineapple, mango, papaya, pomegranate, blackberry.
Worth to mention that the cultivation of Chilean fruits and berries is developed in the regions of Maule (33%), Ñuble (25%), Araucanía (11%), and Biobío (9%).
