Fruit production badly damaged by last week-end's violent rain.
Apples, pears and stone fruits are the most damaged products.
The Western Cape region, which is the most important for fruit production, has been hit by violent rain and hail. In particular the areas of Witzenberg, Ceres, and Koue Bokkeveld.
The most damaged crops are apples, pears and stone fruits. Seedings and agricultural installations were affected as well. The first damage estimations are alarming : losses figure up to 50% and 100% of harvests.
