Expected decline in agricultural exports for 2014

USDA forecasts a decline in agricultural exports for fiscal year 2014.
The U.S. Ministry of Agriculture forecasts that agricultural exports will reach only $ 135 billion for the 2014 fiscal year.
Which represents a decrease compared to total of 2013 (140 million) in 2012 (135.8 billion) and 2011 (137.4 billion). This announced decrease is consecutive to the drop in prices and the effects of the drought of last year, for most products (cereals, meat, dairy products).
The perspectives are the best for fruits and vegetables. An increase of $ 2.5 billion is expected compared to 2013, with a total record of $ 34.5 billion. Fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, almonds and pistachios will continue to increase their exports, responding this way to the strong demand (Canada, Mexico, China, Europe).
If in 2014 the total agricultural exports will decline, agricultural imports would increase from $ 8 billion to $ 113 billion.
