Planasa and Priméale have signed a collaboration agreement to market fresh asparagus in France
Planasa France, subsidiary of Planasa, one of the leaders in the agri-food sector, and Priméale, a subsidiary of the Agrial group, French agricultural and agri-food co-operative, signed a collaboration agreement under which Priméale will become the exclusive sales partner for fresh (mainly white kind) asparagus for the next three seasons (2021-2023).
Planasa France grows 170 hectares of various varieties, mainly Darzilla, of which they expect to produce 700 tons of white asparagus. This asparagus is sold under Domaine Saint Jacques and Priméale brands names through the major retailers in France.
By signing this agreement, Planasa's commercial managers will be collaborating with the largest agricultural cooperative in France in terms of fresh vegetables (fresh asparagus specifically), concentrating the supply on the asparagus market and creating more value in the production chain.
In addition, the company has a desire to join the two main French growers' associations (Maïsadour and Copadax) in order to achieve complementarity. Through the collaboration with Priméale, Planasa France expects not only to enhance the value of its asparagus varieties and its role as breeders, but also to promote their "Domaine Saint Jacques" brand and their HVE (Haute Valeur Environmentale) certification.
