In Switzerland, despite unfavorable weather conditions in April and May, a good cherry harvest is expected according to the 1st estimates of Fruit-Union Switzerland (FUS).
According to estimates by Fruit-Union Switzerland (FUS), the 2019 cherry harvest can be described as good in terms of quantity, forecast 3.3% higher than the average of the last 5 years. As far as fruit loads are concerned, the situation is almost uniform throughout Switzerland. All varieties tend to have good loads. Differences between varieties and regions are minimal. The situation is looking good for early varieties.
The quantities of cherries marketed will reach 2603 tonnes, of which approximately 1 103 tonnes are in Class 28+, 1 321 tonnes in Class 24+ and 179 tonnes in Class 22+.
Quantities should be at its maximum during 4 weeks from June 24th.
