Report of Project sea route Almería / Southampton

The project to connect directly the ports of Almería and Southampton was postponed "indefinitely".

At issue, the repurchase by the company Solvent Stevedores of promoter and developer of the project Southampton Fruit Handling Ltd. The new owners want to take a period of reflection before engaging further in the project.

Another possible cause of this delay, the very small number of exporters of the region have agreed to ship their products to the UK exclusively. The project included a volume of 500 000 tons of exported fruit and vegetables.
