Prince de Bretagne has launched its campaign of endives
FJ
Start of the season of endive at "Prince de Bretagne".
The contributions are around 35 tons per day, it will reach their level of full campaign, 50 tons, in a fortnight. The endive "Prince de Bretagne" is grown by 30 producers located around Kerlouan in Finistere (29), the second French production area since 1950. All volumes pass through only one packing station in Kerlouan, which ensures the consistency of grading at the reception. Then lots are systematically rechecked before marketing.
The producers "Prince de Bretagne" grow first, in open field, the plant which will develop a good root in the fall. The plants will be harvested and then placed in the refrigerator. Then, out of the light in air conditioned room, by hydroponics, technique which involves growing plants without soil, in the water, the roots will give in 21 days fresh and crisp endives. "Prince de Bretagne" ensures very white endive, perfectly clean, ready to eat.
