Banana exports will largely exceed last year's volume

In the Philippines, banana exports are set to exceed the volume recorded last year. Over a period of 7 months the volume is already 50% higher than that recorded last year for the same period.

 

 

 

According to data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the country's banana exports in 7 months reached 2.5 million tonnes, 50% more than the 1.661 million tonnes shipped last year over the same period.

 

 

 

If these volumes are maintained, total shipments this year could reach 4.25 million tonnes. This is a volume well above the 3.4 million tonnes exported last year.

 

 

 

Until then the absolute record of banana exports was achieved in 2014 with 3,631 million tons according to PSA data.
