Developing export markets to deal with "tsunami" of avocados

According to Australian professionals, the country will be faced with a "tsunami" of avocados entering the market. To cope with this, we must develop national consumption and conquer new export markets.

 

 

 

During a forum of agricultural investors, professionals in the avocado sector pointed out that Australian production would increase by nearly 10% this year and reach 95,000 tons. In the next few years, production will continue to grow, as more than half of the avocado trees planted in Australia are less than 5 years old.

 

 

 

Australia will face a "tsunami" of avocados that could drive down prices. It is therefore necessary to encourage national consumption which has a margin of growth with only 70% of Australian households buying avocado. And especially develop export markets.

 

 

 

Japan opened its market last year but the market to conquer is the Chinese market. The sector sought federal assistance to complete this project.
