Declining vegetable production and rising fruit production

In Turkey, fruit production is expected to grow by 6.3% this year.
TÜİK (Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu) the Turkish Institute of Statistics unveiled its forecasts for the country's agricultural production. TÜİK anticipates a decline in vegetable production and an increase in fruit production.
According to TÜİK forecasts for 2018 vegetable production will be 30.4 million tons, a decrease of 1.4% compared to the previous year. Fruit production is expected to reach 22.1 million tonnes, up by 6.3% from the previous year.
The expected increases vary according to the fruit category: apples (+ 13.3%), peaches (+ 2.2%), cherries (+ 0.7%), strawberries (+ 3.7%). Only apricot production is forecasted down (-23.9%).
