The Government of Brazil gives the green light to the commercialization of blueberries from the province of Huelva.
In November 2020, a delegation of Brazilian inspectors visited the blueberry farms of Euroberry and Grupo Medina, Freshuelva's associated companies, and learned about the province's blueberry production systems.
The purpose of that visit was to verify compliance of requirements of the export protocols.
Fepex also participated in the organization of the visit, collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Junta de Andalucía.
They were satisfied with the final procedure that will allow the commercialization of this fruit in Brazil in the near future, once the administrative procedure between both parties has been completed.
The Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, is in charge of signing export protocols with the corresponding authorities of third countries to which producers of Spain want to access.
Today, Freshuelva looks into the processing of new files that will allow the export of blueberries to such countries as Canada, China and India.
Last season, the province of Huelva exported almost 55.000 tons of blueberries, which is a slight decrease of 2 percent compared to the volume exported in previous season.
With a value of almost 317 million euros, this commercialization represented an increase in the value of the berry of more than 14 percent compared to the previous season.
