Avocados: New rise for exports that should still progress

CCEX (Centro de Comercio Exterior) of the Lima Chamber of Commerce has just indicated that Peruvian avocado exports recorded in 2018 a record turnover. Turnover expected to grow further in the future with the opening of new markets.

 

 

According to CCEX, Peruvian avocado exports in 2018 reached nearly $800 million, 26% more than the previous year.

 

The main customers are the Netherlands (275.9 million USD), the United States (191.1 million USD) and Spain (111.8 million USD). Peruvian avocados are currently exported to 35 markets, and this year additional markets are expected to open such as Colombia, the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand.

 

 

Calculating over the last decade, exports reached a cumulative growth of 842.2%, as they reached only 84.8 million USD in 2008.
