Darondine, the new asparagus grown in the Gironde, is soft without being stringy.
A new non stringy variety asparagus called Darondine comes from Gironde.
Darondine is the contraction of Darbonne (the name of the nursery where it was created) and Gironde in reference to its geographical origin
.
Darondine is cultivated in Gironde, Barp, south of Bordeaux. The sandy soils of the region warm fast so it can be harvested earlier.
