Slight decline in the production of lettuce

Smaller areas and production decline expected for the production of winter lettuce (October to April).

For the 2015 / 16 campaign, production is estimated at 338 million head of lettuce, or 3% less compared to 2014/15 production.

The areas dedicated to these winter productions totaling 3560 hectares or 4% less than the previous season.

This surface decline is unevenly distributed between varieties. The Batavia variety will cover less than 1 300 hectares (-6%), the "cut" lettuce, 1200 hectares (-2%), the "cabbage" remained stable at more than a thousand hectares, Roman variety drops by 35%.
