The record tonnage registered by the Panama Canal is a good sign of resumption of activities.

The channel has just beat its tonnage record, dating from 2012.

The Panama Canal registered a tonnage record of 87.7 million PC/UMS tons (Panama Canal Universal Measurement System) during the first quarter of its fiscal year (October 1-September 30).

This record tonnage corresponds to an increase of +4.8% compared to what was expected. A total of 3,450 transits were recorded during the quarter.

The previous record was set during the first quarter of fiscal year 2012 with 86.2 million PC/UMS tons.
