In Senegal the tomato production has not achieved the target.
In Senegal, the volume of industrial tomato production for the 2018/19 season did not reach the target set.

According to data from CNCFTI (National Consultative Committee on the industrial tomato sector) for the 2018/19 season, the production was 60 800 tonnes of tomatoes on a target of 80 000 tonnes.

This 2018/19 campaign confirms a decrease in production compared to the last 3 years, due in particular to constraints related to the effects of a disease that has impacted yields explained the CNFTI.

Yet a production of 100,000 tonnes is achievable according to professionals in the sector. National requirements are estimated at around 120 000 tonnes of tomatoes.
