UPL opened a new global research and development hub in agricultural world

August 10, 2020 – UPL Ltd., one of the world’s leading agricultural input sales companies, announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art research and development hub in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA.

The OpenAg Center serves as a global R&D hub, consists of high-tech laboratories and a team of seasoned, sought- after scientists, able quickly to validate a wide range of technologies - from the latest set of biology-inspired approaches to new chemistry-based innovations.

Mark Singleton, head of new technologies for UPL, shared that the partnering with other innovation companies and leveraging UPL’s scientific, research and development, and supply chain expertise to break down traditional barriers and significantly speed the process of getting new technologies tested, approved, and out in the field.

The OpenAg Center will focus on solving the problems that have plagued the agricultural world for decades by breaking stereotypes of agricultural innovation and bringing exciting new technologies that support sustainable agriculture to farmers around worldwide.

Adrian Percy, chief technology officer of UPL, said, “Agriculture is in dire need of transformation, and today’s painfully slow rate of technology innovation and on-farm deployment simply can’t continue. One of the main highlights of the Center is that the space is consists of climate-controlled research glasshouses, as well as dedicated space for Formulation, Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry laboratories to support research on Application, Characterization, Delivery, Mode of Action and Resistance. Innovation that spans across all indications including fungicides, insecticides, herbicides and crop establishment is an important feature of the Centre.
