Jamaica's fresh produce exports exceed $78 million in 2022

In 2022, Jamaica’s fresh produce exports totalled approximately 34.5 million kilos, worth USD $78.32 million.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Pearnel Charles Jr., yam importantly contributed to this figure with an average export of 14.24 million kg and USD $36.74 million.
Today, Jamaica exports to over 30 countries, being the major recipients the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom and Cayman Islands, according to local media.
The minister stressed that the U.S. was the major recipient with over 15 million kg of fresh produce for approximately USD $26 million (J$40.4 million), followed by Canada, with some 4.325 million kg for around USD $71.5 thousand (J$11.1 million).
