Heavy rains and floods

Extensive damage to agricultural activities in Austria.

Heavy rains have caused flooding and significant losses to the sector of agriculture. In some places it has fallen to 150 liters of water per square meter, which quickly led to flooding in vegetable crops and orchards.

The local Chamber of Agriculture indicates "enormous damage" in areas of Ilz, Untersafen, Saifen, Feistritzwerke, Lafnitztal. The crops of corn, squash, vegetables, and nursery are hardely hit. Initial estimates indicate at least 1.5 million euros in damages.
