"Industrial potato monitoring" or iPot for better monitoring of crops of potatoes and easier planning of crop and logistics (harvesting, storage, processing plant receipt ...).

The sector of ??potatoes (Belgapom) and scientists (University of Liège, Walloon Agricultural Research Centre, Flemish Institute for Research) have partnered to create the geoinformatics platform on the internet, iPot, which aims to bring together diverse data. The data will come from observations implemented on the ground, in the air using drones, and from space via satellites.

For each parcel, it will be possible to assess the stage of plant development, date of harvest, and the risk of production loss or quality (monitoring of temperature, precipitation and soil moisture status ) and to estimate precisely yields.

This vast project recently established, will last 3 years. Different developments will last until December 2015, the following year the parcel tracking will be optimized. It was after the 2017 spring that availability is planned for all stakeholders.
