Urban farm project to grow fruits and vegetables for feeding the 80% of people living in cities by 2050.
In 2050, world population will reach 9 billion people with 80% living in cities, making food and food transport.
One solution is to grow fruit and vegetables in greenhouses in towns and the Swedish company Plantagon has developed vertical greenhouses.
The construction of the first Plantagon greenhouse began last week in Linköping, Sweden.
This farm will be part of the first Centre of Excellence for Urban Agriculture to present technological innovations and serve as a demonstration centre.
Pantagon plans to develop solutions to save water and energy to fight against excessive heat, reduce waste and CO2 emissions, in cooperation with several partners.
