Decrease in banana production, which led to a decline in exports.
The decline in banana production has led to a decline in exports for Cameroon, which is declining to second place among African banana producers.
According to figures published by ASSOBACAM, the banana association of Cameroon, the country exported in 2016 a total of 249 610 tons of bananas. A decrease of 30 000 tonnes compared to the 279 493 tonnes exported in 2015.
This result relegates Cameroon to the position of N ° 2 of the African producers after its brief place of N ° 1 delighted to the Ivory Coast in 2015. For the future, the professionals are confident and foresee an increase of the production from this year with almost 300,000 tons.
