The entire region was hit by a wind storm, then the rain, then the cold and frost from 18 to 24 December 2016.
Despite warnings from the meteorological centers that had alerted the farmers, production areas were hit hard with temperatures falling below zero.
In particular, citrus orchards have been affected by adverse weather conditions in the southeastern area, where they are mainly grown. It is mainly the varieties of mandarins which have known the most important losses. The Antalya area is also one of the regions where the cold caused significant damage.
It remains to quantify these damages. A price increase is already foreseen.
Temperatures are expected to improve only from the beginning of next week.
