Increase in potatoes exports
MD
For the last 4 months, potatoes exports from Pakistan increased by 62% and represents more than 48 million U.S. dollars in value.
According to the Exporters Association, Pakistan Fruit Vegetable Association (PDCA), this increase is due to the huge new market of Russia which had ordered 200,000 tons of potatoes, but due to problems of infrastructure and cold chain, only 87,000 tons have been delivered.
According to the association, 116,000 tons of potatoes were exported, 87,000 tons in Russian and 29,000 tons in Far East. On the Asian market, Bangladesh has cut prices through subsidies, forcing Pakistan to reduce its prices.
