Production increases, imports decrease

The volume of imports of vegetables decreases.
According to market analysts, Russia has reduced its imports of traditional vegetables (cabbage, onions, carrots, beets) by 50% over the past two seasons. Its imports of potatoes are five times lower. This drop in imports is connected to the rise of Russian production and to the numerous investments made since 2008 (infrastructure, storage, packaging).
These analysts predict that in five years Russia will no longer have recourse to imports for cabbage and beets and will have significantly reduced its imports of carrots and onions.
Currently Russia provides itself essentially from European countries for its imports of vegetables and potatoes (France, Italy, Netherlands, Poland).
