3rd citrus festival in Mersin

The festival aims to promote the region and its products since its creation in 2009, not only foreign visitors but also to Turkish consumers by organizing various activities with 50 different stands with different citrus varieties and offering tasting.

 

It is organised and financed by various official organisations (Prefecture, Municipality of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry, University of Mersin, the Agronomy Research Centre of Alata),

local associations such as the Association of Producers of Mersin citrus and also national groups such as the Citrus Promotion Group in Turkey.

Mersin, located in southern Turkey, opposite the island of Cyprus is the region that produces 70% of the lemons from Turkey and exports 40% of all citrus. It also produces more oranges than a quarter of Turkey's oranges and about 15% of small citrus fruit.
