Avocado exports to Canada break records

Mexican avocado exports to Canada broke records in 2019. In volume, of course, but above all in value, accounting for 94% of the total amount of Canadian avocado imports.

 

 

 

Mexico exported 89,048 tonnes of avocado to Canada, according to Canadian government data. In value this represented $224 million, or 94% of the $238 million that Canada spent in total on its avocado imports.

 

 

 

The rest of Canada's avocado imports came from Peru, the United States and the Dominican Republic.

 

 

 

The global avocado market has grown significantly over the past decade. Worldwide avocado exports increased from around 693,000 tonnes at the end of the 2009 season to 2,140,000 tonnes in 2019.
