+ 45% increase in value for Thai durian exports

Increase in value of 70% for exports to China and 19% for exports to countries of Southeast Asia.
For the first half of this year, Thailand was the largest exporter of durian according to the Ministry of Commerce which explains that the many free trade agreements have boosted exports.
 
 
 
The Ministry of Commerce, Trade Negotiations Department, estimates the value of Thai durian exports at $ 817 million for the first half of 2019. This is an increase of 45% over the same period last year. Durian exports accounted for 44% of total Thai fruit exports.
 
 
 
The main markets were China and the countries of Southeast Asia which received 79% of Thai durians. Exports to China are estimated at USD 425 million, an increase of 70%, and exports to countries in South-East Asia at USD 219 million, an increase of 19%.
 
 
 
These performances could be explained by the free trade agreements concluded with more than ten countries. Thailand has free trade agreements with Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, New Zealand , Peru, the Philippines, Singapore and Vietnam.
