France is on 4th position for export of fruits and vegetables in the global market

With increasingly important competitive challenges, the agro-food industry remains one of France's export strengths, states l’ANIA, The National Association of Food Industries in France

Total value of France exports for fruit and vegetables reaches 44,3 Md € (approx: $ US 47 billion) which is 12 % of total French export. Agro-food export in France is ranking in 4^th place on global market after USA (66,7 Md€ / US $ 72 billion). After France, come The Netherlands (59,1 Md€) and Germany (55,8 Md€).

Population growth, coupled with rising living standards and urbanization, is expected to increase world imports by nearly 34% over the decade 2012-2022. This should allow the agro-food industry to take one of the firsts positions in the global commerce together with electronics, automotive and chemical products.

In the fresh produce market, a growing trend has emerged for bio products and ancient vegetables.

Mr Jean- Pierre Dalle from Ribambelle says: “Bio produce are getting more and more popular every year. We can see the same growing trend for ancient vegetables, like Jerusalem artichoke and Crosnes in European market”

The company distributes vegetables to French wholesalers and hypermarkets as well as western European importers. With the view to make distribution of endive more convenient for consumers, Ribambelle is now developing small packaging for endive that is designed for one family.
