The buyer of the French company Saint-Mamet, which specializes in canned fruit, has announced an investment of EUR 8 million for commercial development in France and abroad.
Saint-Mamet was bought by Agro-Mousquetaires, a subsidiary of the Intermarché group. This takeover was formalized on September 21 at the factory premises in Vauvert (Gard) by a ceremony which brought together the departmental and regional authorities as well as the representatives of the buyers who offer new prospects to the company.
Agromousquetaires plans to invest nearly EUR 8 million over the next few years to modernize the production site, plans to relocate certain operations to secure supply, and plans to create a center of excellence for fruit which will be able to rely on the know-how of partner arborists as well as the know-how of Saint-Mamet teams.
Saint-Mamet employs around 150 permanent employees and 200 seasonal workers, processes more than 35,000 tonnes of fruit each year, which comes from around a hundred partner arboriculturists who supply the company with fruit.
