Exports of fresh fruits and vegetables increased by 13% in 2017.

According to the Union of Mediterranean Exporters statistics, published for 2017, Turkish exports of fruits and vegetables reached a value of 2.23 billion dollars.
It is mainly fruits that were exported more than in 2016, with 25 percent more in quantity and 32 percent increase in value. Grapes alone account for 25% of total fruit exports in value. Cherries and pomegranates are in 2nd and 3rd place despite a reduction in their exports (a quarter for cherries) because of climatic problems encountered. Apart from these two fruits, all other fruits will have experienced an increase in their exports, whether in quantity or value.
Vegetables also saw an increase in their exports of 18% in quantity and 22% in value. The number 1 remains the tomato, with an increase of 10% in quantity and 21% in value.
The citrus export figures in general remains stable compared to 2016 due to the sharp drop (-28%) in pomelos and oranges exports (-5%).
Russia has returned to its traditional position as the leading fruit and vegetable importer with about one-third of all exports (+ 83% compared to 2016). Note, however, that Romania is the largest importer of fruit and vegetables. Turkish vegetables, followed very closely by Byelorussia. Germany is in 3rd position for both sectors.
