Protest of the Spanish producers of the Canary Islands who distributed free of charge bananas in Madrid.
The Association of the producers of bananas of the Canary Islands (ASPROCER) led a spectacular action to protest against the politics of Brussels which reduces the customs duties on bananas resulting from the outside of European Union.
ASPROCER distributed free of charge 20.000 kilos of bananas in front of the Puerta del Sol in Madrid.
ASPROCER reminds that the agreements between the EU and the Latin American countries, makes lower tariffs on the 176-euro bananas by ton today to 114 for 2017.
The president of ASPROCER, Francisco Rodriguez, who received the support of the president of the Association ASAJA, Pedro Barato, the representative of the COAG, Rafael Hernandez, and the secretary of UPA, Lorenzo Ramos, call to the intervention of the government to protect the production of bananas of the Canarian Islands.
ASPROCER regrets the new agreement between Colombia and Peru, which fixes tariffs to 75 euro by ton entering Europe, what is going to damage seriously the competitiveness and the profitability of the sector bananas of the Canary Islands.
