The New Zealand Prime Minister has inaugurated the largest COMPAC sorting platform at EastPak and operated the Go button.
The largest sorting and automatic ranking platform in history, with the capacity to pack more than 40 million trays, has just been inaugurated in Te Puke on the site of the company EastPack by Prime Minister M Bill English.
The new 14-lane COMPAC is the first fruit sorter in the industry with more than 10 lines. It can pack 100,000 trays per shift and will give EastPack the ability to pack over 40 million kiwi trays.
This equipment using the latest optical and automatic sorting technologies underlines the enormous development that this site has had. The cost of investments on the site amounts to nearly NZD 25 million. Three years ago, the site was affected by the effects of the PSA disease that affected the entire industry and packed only 25 million kiwi trays.
