Strawberry production has decreased by 12%

Strawberry production fell by 12% in the region of Huelva.

 
This season, the strawberry production represents 252,237 tons, down nearly 12% from the 285,000 tons harvested last year.

 
This decline in production is attributed to a shorter campaign. The weather delayed the start of  season, and crisis of E.coli in Germany and in Europe precipitated the end.
 

Turnover is not finished but should be close to that of the previous season (€ 209.7 million). Huelva exports 85% of its strawberry production, mainly to the European Union.
