MERCABARNA has launched "The Observatory of Trends"

New service whose main objectives are to study and analyze the evolution of trade and consumption of fresh products, as well as to identify new opportunities and new models to improve the competitiveness of companies members of Mercabarna.
The first session of "The Observatory of Trends" concerned the e-commerce and fresh produce. This area is experiencing very good growth, even with a rate of +18% in sales in 2013. For the future, growth is expected to further boost, given that the power sector currently accounts for only 1% of the e -commerce in Spain.
The following session presented a study on the growth of organic food in Spain and Catalonia. Sales of organic food has doubled in 10 years. With an offer that increases due to the expansion of agricultural land dedicated, and with demand which remains strong, the evolution of consumption announces very good growth prospects.
