Romania wants to introduce new legislation to limit the purchase of agricultural land by foreigners.
Romania plans to limit purchases of farmland by foreigners.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, on 9 million hectares of arable land in Romania, 800,000 hectares are owned by foreigners. The government wants to take action to limit such purchases.
Among the ideas included: a cap on the area that a foreigner will be allowed to purchase or require the buyer experience in the agricultural field. The government is continuing to work on new legislation.
