Main producer of fruit and vegetables and 1st market of the Middle East, Egypt supports the growth of its farming sector to increase its exports.
For several years, reforms facilitate infrastructures projects and investments to facilitate exports.
Agriculture is a part of key sectors for exports. The Egyptian food market, by its volume, occupies the 1st rank among the countries of the Arabic world.
Among the countries of the Mediterranean South, Egypt is the main producer of fresh vegetables, with 18,0 million tons produced on average every year, followed by Morocco ( 5,8 ), Algeria ( 4,7 ) and Syria ( 3,0 ).
The main exported products are tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, melons and onions. By its key geographical situation, Egypt can easily export towards the European Union and the Middle East.
According to the last report of the Business Analytic Center, volume of Egyptian exports towards the EU could double in the next years.
2 national plans which added up 6 billion dollars of helps are going to support growth of the sector.
