Mangoes are now compliant with European requirements

Producers and exporters of Pakistan were brought into line with the requirements of the EU (quality, health standards, traceability). Exported mangoes are all treated HWT (Hot Water Treated) process which limits the presence of parasites.

The country wishes to avoid the situation that has recently happened in India that the EU refused the export of mangoes. Professionals believe that these new constraints will be restricting exports in the short term but for the long term, the new systems can increase confidence and increase European exports.

Pakistan exports about 24,000 tons per year to Europe. The implementation of the new measures may slightly reduce the volume for this first season.
