Potato production down by almost 10%

French production of ware potatoes is down by almost 10% in one year. This year's production amounts to 5,850,000 tonnes compared to 6,473,700 tonnes in 2017, a decrease of 9.6%.

 

 

 

The area, which covers 142,710 hectares, had increased again by 3.6% compared to last year, after a rise of 5.1% a year ago.

 

 

 

The average gross yield is about 41 tons / hectare in 2018. It is down by almost 13% compared to last year, losing around 6 tonnes / hectare in 1 year.

 

 

 

These production figures correspond to raw yields harvested, given that, in particular because of the regrowth phenomenon, the net yield can sometimes be significantly lower.
