Melon exports increased by 58%

Spain is the country with the largest area of melons in the EU (with 35% of total, figures of 2012), followed by Italy and France.
Significant upward trend for exports of Murcia region melons.
The Ministry of Agriculture announces that Murcia has exported over 194,000 tons of melon in 2013. The value has exceeded 133 million euros last year. Over the last 10 years, exports of Murcia region increased by 58%.
The main customers are France, Germany, UK and Netherlands who receive 84% of total exports. Then follow Sweden, Denmark, Belgium, Portugal and Ireland.
