No negative effects on the export volume of Dutch onions

The health crisis has caused an increase in demand for onions, according to Holland Onions (Photo: hollandonions.org).
Despite the logistical challenges in the long distance markets, this season is another record year according to Holland Onions.
Holland Onions has announced that at the end of week 24, the export volume amounts to more than 1.15 million tonnes and remains ahead of the 2017-18 record season. The COVID-19 crisis caused logistical challenges in the long-distance markets but also caused a significant increase in demand from European countries.
Neighboring European countries have increased their demand for Dutch onions, but also Eastern European countries. Like Croatia which imported 2.6 million kilograms and Kosovo 2.1 million kilograms, but also Poland, Moldova and Montenegro.
Holland Onions has established the ranking, in volume, of the 20 most important export destinations 2019-20: Senegal, Ivory Coast, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Guinea, Mauritania, Brazil, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Mali, Sri Lanka , Philippines, Gambia, Sierra Leone, Congo, France, Nicaragua, Italy, Israel.
