The success of "ready to eat salads" has stimulated production of lamb's lettuce in Nantes' area.

Production of lamb's lettuce in Nantes (North West of France), has known a huge development since 25 years.

Its tonnage has increased dramatically, doubling in 10 years, reaching 31,000 tons last year, representing 85% of French production.

The season has just begun, and production could increase this year.

This increase in production is attributed to the success of salads ready to eat in bag which have conquered customers.

Germans are the biggest consumers of lamb's lettuce before the French. New countries like Spain, Great Britain or Scandinavia, discovers lamb's lettuce through salads in bags.
