Merger of Asofruit and Catalonia Qualitat in a single organization which will have a potential of one and a half million tons of production.
The merger of Asofruit and Catalonia Qualitat gives birth to the biggest association of Spain.
Asofruit was created in 1978, Catalonia Qualitat in 1992; the new entity represents 90 % of production and marketing of Catalonia fruits and becomes the most important association of Spain.
The merger bring together more than 130 companies, representing thousands of producers of fruits, and 62 importers and traders. In total, the new organization holds more than one and a half million tons of production.
The name of the new organization is not known but it will be chaired by Joan Panades, President of Asofruit, and managed by Manel Simon, Manager of Catalonia Qualitat.
With the difficulties in the sector, this new organization which concentrates production and marketing will allow to face better the future by encouraging a bigger presence of Catalan fruits on international markets.
