Mexican shortage exploded the price of lemons

In the United States limes reach prices never seen before.

Mexican exports of limes are weaker this year. At issue: adverse weather conditions, the ravages of a bacterium, and the Mexican drug cartels which spread terror in the production areas. All these factors have led to a decline in production and mechanically reduced exports to the northern neighbor.

In the United States, lime is about to become a true luxury product. In the north-east, cardboard of 110 fruits reached the price of $ 120, compared to $ 22 requested last January for the same carton. Some bars and restaurants have started charging lemon $ 2.00 a piece for the preparation of of cocktails.
