Exceeded target for melon exports

The melon campaign in Honduras registered record results that far exceeded initial expectations.

 

 

 

According to data from BCH (Banco Central de Honduras), the value of melon exports for the 2018-19 crop year reached 110.1 million USD. That's an increase of 38.1 million USD from the 72 million USD of the previous harvest.

 

 

 

The initial goal of the producers and exporters of melons was to reach 90 million USD. This performance is explained by the increase in production (265.2 million kg for 2017-18 and 281 million kg for 2018-19) and the opening of new markets (Japan, Taiwan, Mexico, Dubai and Singapore).
