Spanish cucumber exports in the 2021/22 season have broken the all-time record in terms of volume, value and price, according to data from the statistical service Estacom (Icex-Tax Agency) and TARIC (Tariff Integrated of the European Communities).
Between August 1, 2021 and July 31, 2022, the country exported 698.31 million kilos of the fruit, for a total value of 835.53 million euros and with a price of 1.2 euros per kilo. These figures are highest achieved in all seasons.
The destinations
Germany, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, which are the three largest consumers of Spanish cucumbers, have received 67.2% of the total shipments (469.28 million kilos).
Germany led the ranking with a purchased volume of 297.56 million kilos, worth 355.5 million euros and an average price of 1.19 euros per kilo.
The United Kingdom was placed in second position, with 108.75 million kilos, 133.04 million euros and an average price of 1.22 euros per kilo.
Third place was occupied by the Netherlands, with 62.97 million kilos, 70.8 million euros and an average price of 1.12 euros per kilo.
France has been the fourth largest importer of Spanish cucumber, with 50.73 million kilos, 58.37 million euros and an average price of 1.15 euros per kilo.
The fifth largest importer of this merchandise has been the Czech Republic with 30.38 million kilos, 31.63 million euros and an average price of 1.04 euros per kilo.
