Stop imports of pineapple, an unfounded rumor

Pineapple crops in Taiwan cover about 10,000 hectares and exports reach nearly 2,000 tonnes.
In Taiwan, as in China, the companies marketing the fruits refute the rumors that China has suddenly stopped importing pineapples from Taiwan.
No Chinese administrative decision (quality control, quarantine) was issued for Taiwan pineapple imports. The recent decline in pineapple prices can be explained by other factors.
Taiwan recorded adverse weather conditions that led to a decline in pineapple production. Producers have tried to compensate for this lack by harvesting fruits that are not yet ripe or of inferior quality. This did not satisfy Chinese consumers who bought a lot less than usual. Hence the price drop and the impression of an embargo on pineapple imports from Taiwan.
