Piura region will export 5 new mango varieties in the 2021/22 campaign

The National Agrarian Health Service of Peru (Senasa) announced the start of the 2021/22 mango export season with the expectation of exceeding shipments of more than 200.000 tons that were reached last season.
This season, Piura region will produce 5 new mango varieties: Omer, Orli, Shelly, Tali and Noa to supply international markets. These varieties are grown on 22 hectares in the Chira Valley (Sullana, Piura department), and are characterized by their nice flavor and color. The region will also produce traditional varieties: Tommy Atkins, Haden, Kent and Edwards.
During the previous season, a total of 10,947 hectares of mangoes were certified in the region where the main mango production sites are located in San Lorenzo and Alto Piura valleys.
To date, the overall volume of this season's shipments is only 33,706 tonnes of mangoes but normally the export campaign runs until May.
