The Indian state of Kerala will launch its own brand of organic vegetables.
To promote pesticide-free vegetables grown by local farmers, the government of Kerala (state southwestern Indian peninsula) will launch its own brand "Kerala Organic".
The Minister of Agriculture has confirmed the measures taken for the sale of organic vegetables. These vegetables come from 446 "clusters" or groups of farms selected throughout the state and will be sold under the brand name "Kerala Organic".
This initiative promotes local agriculture and responds to growing concerns about pesticides in Fruits & Vegetables from other states. To reassure the public, the ministry is also announcing the establishment of laboratories to examine chemical residues. One of them being able to test 50 fruit and vegetable samples in 1 hour.
